It has been around far longer than the current crop of AI dictation tools and has evolved by bolting on frontier-model integrations: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok are all wired in, alongside support for local models. If you want a single voice-driven layer over your PC rather than a focused dictation utility, that breadth is the appeal.

What it does well
Voice commands beyond text entry. Controls the PC, opens applications, runs searches. Closer to Dragon Professional's automation ambitions than to a modern dictation app, at a fraction of the price.
Multiple LLMs in one place. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok wired into one voice interface, plus local models.
Genuinely wide language support. 90+ for dictation, with voice commands claimed across most world languages — broader than most competitors bother with.
RAG document chat. Ask questions of your own documents by voice.
A lifetime licence exists. Around $199, which for a perpetually-updated Windows utility is reasonable.
Where it falls short
Pricing is inconsistent across sources. Third-party listings variously report $59/year, $79/year, $199 lifetime, and up to $399, with limited-time offers muddying it further. The vendor's own pages don't lay out tiers cleanly. Check the current price before buying and don't rely on figures quoted anywhere, including here.
Jack of all trades. Dictation, assistant, image generation, video generation, document chat, TTS. Nothing in that list is likely to beat a dedicated tool, and the dictation specifically is not competitive with Wispr Flow or Aqua Voice on output quality.
Windows only, and it shows. Supporting Windows XP onward tells you something about the codebase. The mobile apps are remote controls, not real apps.
Dated presentation. The interface and website feel a generation behind the current market.
Independent reviews are old. TechRadar and the software-directory sites have coverage, but little of it is recent enough to reflect the LLM features.

Who it's for
Windows users who want voice control of their machine and a built-in AI assistant, and who see dictation as one part of that rather than the point. If dictation quality is what you care about, nearly everything else in this category will produce better text for less money. If it's PC automation by voice, Braina is a far cheaper route in than Dragon.
